The Great Solar Calendar of Pleiadia

One of the tasks of the Great Ecumenical Council of the Six Noble Peoples was to set upon one common calendar for use among all of the attending groups and all of the civilized races. It was decided to use a solar calendar system and was named the Great Solar Calendar.   There are twelves months, each with 30 days. Each month either named after one of the gods of the attending delegates, or some representation of their religion. The first day of the year, and thus the first month, was set at the spring equinox for the northern hemisphere. Exactly 90 days later, the north would experience summer while the south entered into winter. Northern autumn would begin on the seventh month, and northern winter on the tenth month.

The Months

The following are the names of the months of the Great Solar Calendar of Pleiadia.
  1. Oaveden - The first month of spring and the first month of the year, Oaveden is named after the Sleeping Deity of the Dail.
  2. Ustuz - The second month of spring, Ustuz is the Orange Chief of the Yotunn.

  12. Snow'Wel - The last month of the year, and of winter, is another one shared by the Duland people, for Snowtal the Bright Ancient and for Cloudcal the Brother.

The Days

Each month is further divided up into five weeks, each with six days per week. The days of the week were named for the six original races of Humanoids as follows:
  1. Elfday
  2. Dwarfsday
  3. Gnomenday
  4. Halfweek
  5. Hümsday
  6. Orckend
Sometimes the weeks will be referred by their ordinal position in the month (Firstweek, Secondweek, Thirdweek, etc.). This is not an official naming, but is more colloquial in nature.
