Life, Death
After several generations of trade between the halflings and the dwarves, the borders had opened more and more until the council had begun pushing for the entire island to be opened and the wealth of trade spread to all clans. As talks about this were going on several of the council members were assassinated seemingly by dwarven hand, which resulted in the island being ever more isolationist than before.
The assassinations pushed the council into a state of chaos. Almost half of its members had been killed and cries of revenge quickly spread throughout the island. The remaining council quickly realised that a war would not be possible against the dwarves and since the execution of the perpetrator had not been enough they decided to limit dwarven access to the island. In the end, it was decided that the trade was not worth the meddling from outside countries so all dwarves on the island were expelled and any land they had bought was forcibly taken from them. Some scholars believe that the Bloodleaf clan continued to trade with the dwarves in secret in an attempt to keep the economy afloat, but sources on this is scarce.
