The Holy Order of Druids Digs for the Celestial Column

Although the Holy Order of Druids had decided not to face the great evil that plagued the land after the rise of Li'sin Ar, some of them devised a plot to involve the gods. They believed that if the Celestial Column was dug up and repaired, the gods would have to either indulge in their power to the mortals or lose their faith. This in turn would put a target on the gods and possibly kill them.

The archaeological missions to find the Celestial Column began in Niko and although the Holy Order of Druids were not welcomed at first, the amount of money they brought with them quickly changed the mind of many of the shorter-lived races that did not remember the reason the wasteland had ended up as it did.   The archaeological missions, however, ended abruptly when the great evil came to the wasteland and killed many of the inhabitants. After this, the mission was abandoned with little to show for it except for the tunnels they had dug deep down into the wasteland. These tunnels were eventually buried by the sand, but sometimes still appear after heavy storms.
