Secession of the Mundanes
Although the druids originally were purely a faction that tried to keep the world trees alive and healthy, they have slowly become an increasingly political force able to reach far and wide throughout E'ath. This is seen nowhere clearer than in the Holy City where they rule as de facto regents and have become responsible for the daily running of the city. But the responsibility of a city also means accountability as seen in the Secession of the Mundanes a movement first begun with the second archdruid, Christoffel the Prone.
Christoffel was the first archdruid who took complete control of the city with the ambition of using its resources to further his goals of understanding the world trees. This resulted in several unpopular new laws and as the populace grew increasingly discontent protests began to grow until finally a general movement of the entire population out of the city to a nearby cave system started. This was the first time the druids of the Holy City realized how much they had depended on the citizens and thus Christoffel had to 'bend his knee' and agree to change his political stances.
Since then whenever archdruids would try to implement changes to the Holy City that the populace did not agree with these movements would be enacted effectively giving the populace a way to protest changes.
