Li'sleith's Rising Day

Li'sleith rose from the ocean on the 9th Gozran, the year 1000 in the first age. The event is now celebrated on the same day of the year by practising magic and duelling by use of magic. Rich families often hire Magicians to tutor them or perform different tasks as it is seen as prestigious to have as many mundane tasks as possible done using magic for the day. Due to this many times slaves and servants without magic use the day as a holiday as the hired magicians take over their tasks.   Poorer families will often try to imitate magicians or have their children take tests in the local mage guild to see if they can develop such abilities. The magicians who are not hired instead observe the day by using as much magic as possible and sometimes devote themselves to magical experiments as experiments are believed to be more successful during this day.
