Voulteria
Voulteria is the natural home of the Wood Elves and their safe-haven from the conflicts outside their borders. The elves here have created a culture of seclusion, while still allowing trade to continue. The physical city itself, along with the people who inhabit it, have a very strong connection to the natural magics. This is theorized to be because of its proximity to the Myrkvidr. Voulteria has a rather short history in regards to its interaction with other cities. Though they do have a mutual friendship with the people of Vasign.
The folk here prefer to live in a quiet admiration of nature, rather than attempting to harness it. This has led to a number of disagreements among travelers from Voulteria to places like Ginnungagap or Dreknul, whose culture is to use their resources to their full extent. This has also led to the Dwarves of Ginnungagap to create a running inside joke that all outsiders that don't fight come from Voulteria.
Government
Voulteria is ruled by a sovereign king who is as old as the city itself. Due to his Elf blood and strange druidic magic, the king has lived an uncountable amount of time. Though his mind is still sharp, so Voulteria is not likely to fall victim to his old age. Only a handful of individuals have permission to interact or gaze upon the king, one of which is a representative to the Counsel of Daaself.
Defences
The city does not have many defenses that spread far from the main area of Voulteria. This is because to the North and West the city is covered by the edge of the Myrkvidr. The forest is so thick, no army in history has successfully traversed its woods and come out in full power. To the East is Loch McGnill minor, which originates from the Skull River. This river is impossible to cross without any kind of bridge, of which there are none.
As far as built defenses, Voulteria is surrounded by a stout wall made of log. The wood of the wall has been reinforced by a magically enhanced sap that comes from the deep of the Myrkvidr that makes the wall resistant to fire.
Points of interest
The Mahogany Palace - The central castle (if one could call it that) of Voulteria sits high above all other trees. This is where the King resides. The tree is so massive, a fantastic, winding palace has been carved from its trunk. This towering beast of a home is one of the most beautiful sights on the continent.
Architecture
The architecture of Voulteria is breathtaking. The city is comprised of entire temples and homes being made with trees included in the main structures. All the buildings are either hung, carved into, suspended between, is simply attached to a tree in one way or another. Older structures are easily identifiable when the tree outgrew the structure it is a part of. The people then will either take down the old structure to be replaced, or abandon it to use as a symbol of constant change and renewal.
