Shadow Mountains

The Shadow Mountains is the northernmost mountain range in all of Dwaistar. Despite it's harsh winters, these mountains are full of life. Dwarves, Goliaths, Orcs, Purple worms, Behirs, and many other creatures of the like call these jagged peaks home. The Shadow Mountains are completely unforgiving to unprepared outsiders who didn't prepare for the blizzards and winds. If you are lucky enough to find a cave in which to rest, pray that you are the first to find it, lest you be the next meal for a famished serpent. If you find yourself at a time where the snow has subsided, be careful to look for canyons of stone sharper than any sword. If you plan to go deep in the mountains, you better have a good reason to...

Geography

From afar these Peaks are beautiful, but the closer you get to the foot the more terrifying its size truly is. The higher the mountains go the more mist sets in and will obscure your vision until you don't even realize that you are walking directly into a pitfall without realizing. The highest parts of the range are so deeply covered in ice and snow, you won't see uncovered stone for miles. Only in civilizations intelligent enough to find/create heat for themselves can hope to survive. The stone is rough and craggy and can make you lost easily. If you land a misplaced footing and trip, you could be fatally wounded if not properly tended to.

Fauna & Flora

Mountain Orcs and Goliaths are the first villagers to inhabit these mountains, naturally sparking a violent feud between the two neighboring tribes. The Dwarves were to immigrate in later.   No plants grow past the foot of the mountain.   Large and dangerous beasts are more common to see however. Any creature that naturally lives in snowy climates likely lives somewhere in the mountains. Even White Dragons have been observed to be a commonplace along the peaks and caves. Any fire based spells are likely to keep an adventurer safe against an attack, so long as they use them sparingly.   Long ago this was the land of the Frost Giants before their banishment. Artifacts from their society can still be found beneath the snow.

Tourism

Only the bravest of adventurers are willing to trek these peaks without a guide. Even then there is little reason to, unless attempting to contact the natives of Crakkar.
