Servants of the Land
The Servants of the Land are a roaming mercenary force that have gathered fame through their mighty deeds. They are a relatively new group in the world, but their appeal has gained them renown. They offer training to any individual who chooses to join, and provide quests and lodging. Naturally, they are popular among the peasantry who wish a more fulfilling life.
Structure
A handful of Colonels are at the head of the mercenary group. Directly under them are their captains whom they individually appoint. Then the average foot soldier. Due to shoddy paperwork, it is unknown to all but the colonels who started the organization. Local city guards tolerate the presence of the Servants and generally allow them to conduct their business undisturbed.
Culture
Many who join these mercenaries often branch off into their own adventuring parties after a time. This tends to be the types of people who don't like having a code to operate by. The ones who stay for a while carry themselves with pride. Their shiny plate and frilly sleeves are more of a symbol of pride than a form of protection to them. After enough training and quests under their belts, any Servant of the Land can prove to be quite the opponent in a fight. They can be especially deadly when in a proper battle formation.
Opinions of the Servants among criminal organizations are lackluster at best. Common consensus is they are a bunch of tools. This is likely because of their acceptance of often inexperienced fighters. It is not uncommon to see an entire unit being slaughtered by just a handful of assassins.
