Disaster / Destruction
The Great Umbraki Famine was a crisis that struck Umbrak in the mid-6th century of the current era. It was precipitated by a year of unusually heavy rainfall that caused mass destruction of fields and prevented the planting of new crops across southern Umbrak. A downward spiral ensued, where a lack of crops caused the mass death of livestock, and the effects of the lack of food and livestock led to difficulties farming that led to more crop failure and famine. Agriculture in Khahlanong did not stabilize until 552 CE, and by then millions had died.
Some speculate that the unusual weather that caused the famine was the result of a changing climate caused by volcanic eruptions across Duurn in 547 CE.
