Steel Vest
A concealable armor vest, relatively lightweight and cheap.
An example is the uniform vest issued to Khahlanong Imperial Army infantry from the 1290s to the 1310s. It was a standard, military-style vest with two pockets in the front for steel plates to be inserted. These overlapped in the center where the vest buttoned. Infantrymen thought it too heavy and hot during long marches -- and of little value against musket fire in any event. Nevertheless, it was a common sight on the battlefield.
