Reactionism

In a time of political crisis, where new ideas rise to power in great bouts of violence, it is not surprising that there are those that look back to the "old times" with with regret and longing. Though "reactionary" was first slung by radicals as an insult against those that stood in the way of progress, there are many that have donned its cloak proudly. They fight for a return to a time of peace, stability, and universal truths. But did such a time even exist? Or are they merely attempting to recreate a fleeting image of that which never was, preferring its comfortable lies to the cold reality of modernity?
