Mlolahlugu
Mlolahlugu, meaning "Grand Barrier" in Mhledlan, is the body of water that surrounds Duurn in every direction. It is often split between four directional orientations by geographers. In the northwest, it is the Iyep Ocean. In the northeast, it is the Luabhimhlat Ocean. To the southeast, it is the Sjallild Ocean. Finally, it is the Inghethal Ocean to the southwest.
The ocean is a source of great mystery for the people of Duurn. It seems to stretch on endlessly, as far as anyone has recordedly traveled at least, without any sign of land. However, many aeronauts and explorers swear on stories of lands beyond the ocean, places of wild surreality, where the laws of natural order that bind Duurn have no hold. At the very least, there is some truth to the idea that reality begins to unravel the further into the ocean one travels. Reports of great funnels of water ascending into the sky, dancing shadows lurking beneath the waves, and storms that seem to have a life of their own all come from quite reliable sources.
Every once in a while, some would-be-adventurer with more wealth than sense pays for a team of foolhardy aeronauts to take them across the waves, following one or another map to "great treasures." Most of them never return, and those that do don't seem to be much better off, driven to inarticulable awe and madness.
