Fentylshog, The Dread Hunter

Patron of hunters and serial killers, of truth and the fresh kill — Fentylshog is everything that mortals turn away from. It stalks the wilds and the urban streets alike, revealing the bestial nature at the heart of civilization. For all of the airs of peace and order that mortals put on, brutality lives in their core, and it cannot be entirely escaped. It does not revel simply in empty death but in the hunt and the revelation of awful truths, and those who invoke its name without understanding this are more likely to find themselves slaughtered than imbued with its blessing. It is tempting to see the Dread Hunter as malevolent, but this would be as innaccurate as calling it benevolent. Morality is not a concept that it can be constrained by, and it is no more immoral than a wolf ripping out the throat of a deer.   Cultists of the Dread Hunter often hunt alone or in small packs, not at all like the organized cults of other gods. Some cultists are warped and changed by Fentylshog, granting them a more bestial form. Others remain entirely mortal in appearance.   In many ways, Fentylshog resembles a folk god, in that it is taken as a representation of an intangible concept or phenomenon and seems to have little interest in the schemes and power struggles of the prosoponic gods. However, its reach, ability, and autonomy far outstrip that of all folk gods, and by some story accounts it has interfered with the plans of other deities.

Fentylshog appears as a canid creature, often wolf-like in appearance but hulking and with features of other predatory animals. Its coat is mangy and matted with gore. The stench of death precedes it and lingers wherever it passes.
