Bronze Isle Treaty

The Bronze Isle Treaty, signed in 975 CE between Mruk Katoor I and fourteen of the Bronze Isle clans, ended the Powder Wars and officially established the nation of Dorn under the control of Mruk Katoor I. The treaty laid out the political framework of the new nation, a monarchy with Katoor at the head. The clans agreed to recognize Katoor's right to rule and aid him in suppressing the other Bronze Isle clans, and in return, the heads of the signatory clans formed the Signatory Council that advised Katoor and received a measure of power over the system of the new nation.   Within the language of the treaty, the Signatory Council would permanently have fourteen seats. Each clan would choose their representative, typically the head of the clan. Over time, this was interpreted to mean that the seat would belong to the legal successors of each of the signatory clans, that eventually became the powerful noble houses of Dorn.
