Reincarnation
Elemental forces play an important role in the reincarnation process in Dunia. While early elves and humans recognized four Elements and dragons recognized five, the forces that seem to drive the reincarnation process could only be discovered once the two elemental models were combined into a single six-element framework. Here is a tabular reconstruction of what the wizards of House Tïr were able to figure out before their experiments were shut down. Note that this data may be incomplete or incorrect in some places.
From their research, it appears that all races are associated with a dominant and secondary elemental affinity. The research notes include the following observations:
- When a creature is reincarnated, one of the elemental affinities from their original life persists in the new form.
- The second elemental affinity seems to be randomly determined, but can be biased slightly by performing the spell in places with strong elemental resonances. The elemental affinities of the caster may also bias the results, though this is inconclusive.
- That the Dragonkin races are either created or not native to this world seems to be supported by the fact that they have no secondary elemental affinity. In notes of the researchers, this is taken as evidence that these races are lesser beings who do not belong in Dunia.
- The dwarves seem to be a strange exception to the two-element theory, as the data suggests that there could be a third element involved - or perhaps that it is the earthen affinity that matters most and the other element is less important. Results are inconclusive.
