Schools of Magic

In the world of Aradia, magic is broken down into certain types known as schools.

Abjuration

Abjuration is the magic of protection, of wards and Banishment. Abjurers specialize in shielding their allies (with, for example Mage Armor), dispelling hostile spells, and creating barriers against magical and physical harm.

Conjuration

As the name suggests, conjuration includes the art of summoning creatures and objects - conjuring them from other planes, or thin air! Teleportation magics like Teleportation Circle are also included in the school of conjuration.

Divination

Divination is the magic of insight, Foresight, and hidden knowledge. Diviners cast spells to uncover secrets, predict outcomes, and reveal illusions or hidden truths about the world.

Enchantment

Enchantment surrounds the influence of both minds and emotions. Whether dealing psychic damage with Vicious Mockery, or supporting allies with buffing spells like Heroism, enchanters control those around them, bending them to their will with magical persuasion.

Evocation

This school is all about evoking the raw elemental power of the world. Evokers wield fire, lightning, ice, and force energy, both to attack and defend themselves. Spells include Thunderwave, Fireball and Ray of Frost.

Illusion

Illusion deals with false sights, sounds, sensations and even memories. Illusionists may confuse their enemies with phantom sounds, or hide themselves with spells like Invisibility or Disguise Self.

Necromancy

Necromancy gives power over life, death, and undeath. Necromancers can drain vitality from their enemies, or raise an army of the dead, but can also Spare the Dying or even Heal others with their own life force. Necromancy is a feared or forbidden art in many lands.

Transmutation

Transmutation, previously known as Alteration, focusses on changing the physical properties of creatures and objects. Spells in this school can alter the size and shape of a person, or even their abilities. They can also mold the material world with spells like Stone Shape, Control Water and Flesh to Stone.
