The party sets off from Tow to try to break Mimi's connection to Wrinyth. However, on the way to their destination, Shaco notices something weird as the ship passes Tunstead, the capital city of Eclania. He and Wrath fly over to investigatie, discovering the city is halfway between the material plane and the ethereal plane, and that all of the city's residents, approximately 30,000 people, are trapped in the ethereal plane with no way out. The party heads to the temple of Iemis, and find the god able to communicate with them only in emotions. It takes some time and effort to get some answers to their questions, but after stepping into the Eternal Flame of Iemis, they are greeted with a vision of another Kit casting some sort of unfamiliar spell on the flame, sending the city and its residents into the ethereal plane. The party decides to rest for the night before investigating any further, and Mimi wanders off, finding a crying child who is able to inform them of another living person in the city: someone whose description mysteriously matches Kit's dead father. In the morning, they follow up on this lead and find out that Kit's father is, in fact, alive, and working with this "evil Kit". However, despite the party having him cornered, he is able to get away at the last second to evade attack, presumable to inform evil Kit about Shaco and the party's presence in the city.
