The Dusk.

Children who Call Black Hammer or any of villages bordering The Great Northern Darkness, are often told the tales of what could happen to one who strays too far away from the sun.

Summary

"You Children may play, but only ever travel so far as to be able to see the sun's face over the horizon,Beyond that the sun cannot watch you!"-The words ring out in Cedrics ear as he sees his friends skipping across stones in a river heading ever farther north towards that darkness."C'mon Cedric! Were almost there we can almost see it!" Klara his tall and more agile friend calls out,as she lags slightly behind their leader, who has begun the ascent up the steep cobbled hill where atop a small set of ancient ruins sit.Cedric continues forward, enthusiastic to please his new friends.Nearly 50 yards up the hill Cedrick looks back, and with a sinking heart realizes the sun,the god of his people, has vanished behind the mountains. He takes a large messy glug of his leatherbound canteen before joining his friends, calling to him at the top"you almost here cedrick come and see it!" There they stood atop the massive pile of countless fragmented brimstone, gazing down the much steeper face of the loosely held together behemoth, trying to see the bottom in the inky abyss below them. They all stand in silence for a moment gazing in awe at what felt like infinite blackness,Until Meril, the oldest of the group pitches a small stone sharply down towards the blackness."What! why would you do that!?" Cedric half screams at Meril in a type of muffled pitch.Meril moves his finger towards his mouth as if to gesture Cedric to be silent. A few anxious moments pass, and Cedric begins to speak again before he is interrupted,by the sounds of soft and steady beating of wings.out of the darkness a large raven appears, gracefully perching it self on a tall stone ruin the trio of foolhardy younglings gathered around. The bird jerks it's head with sharp deliberate motions, gazing at the the party. After a moment,it stared into Meril's eyes scornfully before opening is fractured beak, and letting a strange and otherworldly voice spill forth"what is it you seek young one?".Meril looks both terrified and intrigued as he tries to process what one says to question like this, before hastily yelling back to the bird"What lies in the darkness!"The Rugged looking raven takes a look about the goru before raising it's wings and flying back down into the darkness, disappearing into the murky blackness. The party looks around at each other,as if to confirm to one another what they had just seen.suddenly out of the abyss a rock seems to be thrown back upward, hitting a few yards beneath the loose stone face they peek down from.causing a few more loose stones to become dislodged and fall back down the face with it.A few more stones fall after a few seconds and they seem to not stop,a small stream of stone begins to flow downward towards the darkness.Cedric looks to Karla before speaking in a terrified voice"i think its time we head home".Without warning,The ruins the party stand on being to crumble beneath them. They claw and seize at the loose stones desperately trying to climb up the ever downward sliding hill of wretched brimstones.the group slides endlessly downward into the gloomy blackness, never to be seen again.
