The Gobble Goat Float
Adventure Briefing
The city of Dondarian is alive with Nobbletot festivities. A young girl named Nina pleads for help, claiming to have stolen a silver pitchfork from the woods. Adults dismiss her. Rimpsmeat has ordered the Gobble Goat to retrieve the fork. Memory Effect. Adults disbelieve in the truth of Nobbletot and don’t see or interact with anything involved. For the Characters. Hired as festival security, you begin your day in the bustling game district, surrounded by costumed revelers. Later, you’ll move to the parade.

Animal Escapade
A goat has chewed through the bars of a tiger cage, releasing the animal into the crowded district. The tiger panics. Innocents. AC 10, HP 5. 2d4 bystanders are in the tiger’s path. The tiger moves 40 ft. randomly each round. If the tiger ends its turn in their space, they take 1d8 slashing damage. Tiger Stats. AC 12, HP 37, Speed 40 ft. Athletics +3
- DC 13 Animal Handling. If the tiger flees, 2d4 bystanders are knocked prone in the stampede and take 1d6 damage.
Nina’s Silvered Pitchfork
The characters should encounter Nina Nutmeg early in the day as they participate in their Nobbletot festival patrol. Her panic and urgency contrasts with the carefree crowd.
Read Aloud. A young girl clutches a shiny pitchfork
nearly the same size as her.
She is crying, “Please! Rimpsmeat is coming!”
Her yells are ignored as she tugs at her parent’s sleeves.
Her father laughs. “Go, play!”
Nina is an eleven-year-old human child who is scared. Once she finds someone who listens, Nina won’t leave their side, insisting the Gobble Goat is after her. She is determined that if she can hold onto the pitchfork for the holiday, Rimpsmeat & the Gobble Goat won’t be able to harm anyone this year. Nina is well versed in Nobbletot lore and will happily tell it. The Pitchfork. This magic weapon glows and is silvered.
- DC 13 Arcana. The weapon is enchanted and has a fey aura.
Strange Goats & Stranger Clues
Unusual signs hint at something more. These clues can help the characters prepare for what’s to come. DC 13. Identifying 3x total clues removes the surprise during the parade.
- Chewed Scenery. Decorations and carts are damaged in impossible ways, like spirals and clean bites out of wood.
- Droppings. Found in odd patterns and glowing faint green.
- Goat Tracks. Small footprints turn into hoofprints and then vanish. They are most common near the parade route.
- Human Screams. A chilling scream from an empty alley echoes like someone in pain. Giant hoofprints remain.
- Puppets. At a puppet show, a group of goats sits as an unnaturally still audience enjoying the performance.
Befuddled Bystanders
This moment can occur at any point before the parade. It’s a chance for players to investigate the effects of fey interference and suspect something bigger is at work. The bystanders were afflicted with the Gobble Goat’s Human Scream ability.
Read Aloud. A group of festivalgoers sits cross-legged in the street, covering their ears and humming loudly. When approached, they glance up with wide eyes and say, “It sounded like someone dying.”
- DC 13 Arcana. A faint trace of fey magic lingers. The people took minor psychic damage and are fazed.
- DC 13 Insight. The bystanders are shaken but unharmed, frightened by a noise only they heard.
The Parade
As the parade reaches its peak, the float bursts open and the characters must react. Besides the children, the characters are the only ones who may understand what is going on. If the Gobble Goat fails, it leaves the crowd dazed and Nina safe.
Read Aloud. The Gobble Goat Float is the highlight of the parade. A massive goat effigy surrounded by children in goat costumes. Some wave from the float while others walk alongside. The float creeks and unnatural movement catches your attention. A musky scent overwhelms you as the sides burst open, a horde of goats pouring out from within.
- DC 10 Insight. The creature is bound by some kind of fey rule and will leave after five rounds, win or lose.
- DC 14 Performance or Persuasion. Calm the crowd or convince them this is all acting. If unconvinced, they will hamper and cause disadvantage on attack or ability rolls.

Rimpsmeat’s Silvered Pitchfork
Weapon (pitchfork), rare (requires attunement) This +1 silvered pitchfork glows faintly with an unnatural light and radiates fey magic. The pitchfork deals 1d6 piercing ( 1d8 if wielded with two hands) plus 1d8 psychic damage. While attuned to this weapon, you are immune to any effect that would alter, erase, or suppress your memories of Nobbletot or the Otherwyld. Special Effect. When you hit a fey, gnomish, or goblinoid creature with this weapon, it must succeed on a DC 16 Constitution saving throw or be incapacitated until the end of its next turn.
NPCs
Nina Nutmeg
C/G, Female, Human Nina is a spirited and stubborn child, teetering on the edge of disbelief in Nobbletot, until this year. Now fully convinced of the Otherwyld’s dangers, she’s taken matters into her own hands. Equal parts fairy tale hero and reckless thief, Nina sees stealing the pitchfork as necessary and brave. Her family remains trapped in a magical stupor, and their home holds no answers. Everything happened too fast for anyone to stop her. Roleplaying Nina
Personality Trait. “If no one else is going to fix it, I will.”
Ideal. “Thrill. I’d rather get in trouble than sit around bored.”
Bond. “I believe in myself more than anyone.”
Flaw. “I don’t think things through if they feel right.”
GM Advice
This is fairy tale nonsense. Let it be festive and just a little grim. The Gobble Goat is here to get the pitchfork and leave. Players should always feel like their actions matter, even if the creature is largely unbothered by them. Nina stole the pitchfork from the woods, but there’s nothing out there now except goat dung and the smell of sugared meat. If players insist on exploring it during the job, they’re abandoning their post and forfeit their pay. Why doesn’t Rimpsmeat come for the fork himself? That’s for another year. If the players succeed, consider drawing Rimpsmeat’s attention for the next Nobbletot. As groups progress in level, run Throne of the Goat as a follow-up.
The Gobble Goat
This is not a hit point battle. The Gobble Goat cannot die here and doesn’t care about the damage it takes. Its only goal is to recover the pitchfork. Still, players may try to fight it directly. Use big hits as a reason to force the creature to draw attention, impose disadvantage, or allow critical hits to disarm the fork. Rimpsmeat & the Gobble Goat are one creature and two at the same time. As long as Rimpsmeat exists, the Goat remains. It knows this and doesn’t fear consequences. See Rimpsmeat & the Gobble Goat’s full stats here. Gobble Goat Stats. AC 18, HP 273, Speed 60 ft., Fly 30 ft. (10 minutes max), STR +6, DEX +4, CON +5, Stealth +9 Traits. Immune to silvered weapons.
