The Great Gummy Wyrm

Although the specifics of the myth vary from those who claim to see it, the through-line is thus:

Some claim to know the origin dreamer or the sailor in question, however, no claims have been fully confirmed yet.

While not fully confirmed, the first tales of the great wyrm originate around the time when the Coastal Conflict in the waking world occurred, leading historians to the conclusion that the trauma may have started from a loss at sea. There are some people who remain in the Dream World in limbo from that time, but nobody will speak upon it's influence nor the connection.

Awareness of the myth reaches far across the dreamrealms though to most the myth is rather watered down. The full story of the myth, it's causal, and the pop-culture that surrounds the beast are localised to the Cotton Coast region of the Ice Cream Islands. Many know the myth because of it's historical links to events of the nautical wars, as well as a tourist / pop cultural iconography of the area.

In communities that choose to live amongst the cotton coast there is a strong set of superstitions around the Great Gummy Wyrm, and some choose to participate in the Gift to the Great Gummy festivals that happen later in the colder rotations of a cycle. Originally said to be created as a way to honour those who had lost their dreams to him, many state that the level of Gummy-Related seafaring disasters dropped significantly after the festivities were performed, leading to their increased attendance and reverence.
