Gift to the Great Gummy
Originally started as a set of rituals the inhabitants of the Cotton Coast would undergo in order to morn those who lost their souls to the Great Gummy Wyrm, the Gift to the Great Gummy was a funerary rite to fallen sailors. However, once it was observed that the Wyrm's wrath would relent after such festivities were underwent the rituals turned into acts of appeasement.
Within the word of the rituals the tethering thread of continuity suggests that a significant amount of the reaped and harvested stock must be offered to the Great Gummy Wyrm on the Crust of Cost, a chiseled rock-candy altar fashioned and embellished with the likeness of the one whom it pertains to subdue.
History
The first recorded rituals of the Gift to the Great Gummy are strongly debated amongst historians, due to the nature of morning and funerary rites being complicated in a dreamland-limbo realm, it is unclear what truly was the first iteration of the sacrament. However, the first written records of the rite were written 150 changes ago, and correlate it strongly to a response and way of venting the anxiety and fear stirred by the nautical wars that plagued the southern regions of the awake realm at the time.
The Gift to the Great Gummy has held as a longstanding tradition passed amongst dreamers to the Cotton Coastal region, many learning from the lingering souls of those who stay within that realm, or from written records about the region. Although it does not carry the absolute reverence that it used to uphold, there are still a great many who diligently perform the rites and strongly swear to it's effectiveness in peacekeeping.
Execution
On the Crust of Cost there must be placed a significant and prestigious offering, usually styled in a basket or box, that comprises of harvested or acquired materials from the current change cycle. It is mostly merchants, farmers, and those wishing to sail upon the Cotton Coast's seas that must provide an offering, however others may do it out of love or respect for the region or the wyrm himself.
