Priest

Priests exist in many of Drakunne's religions, and are religious leaders with the authority to perform sacred rituals of their religion. For most Drakuni religions, priests are considered capable of speaking directly with their deity (or deities). In some religions, priests are considered the only ones to whom the gods speak, or who get answers to their prayers.   The Society of Infinity's priest are seen as a direct link between the regular dragons and their god, Auhir. While all dragons in the Society are religious and pray to their god, only the priests can be expected to communicate with Auhir directly, receiving word back.

Career

Career Progression

Dependent on the religious group, some priests can see further career growth, whereas others would need to step beyond their title of priest and into a different profession. In the Society, priests are the highest religious order (besides their god), and maintain an internal hierarchy. The various priests are led by the High Priest, who (supposedly) maintains the strongest connection to their god.

Other Benefits

Priests are highly regarded due to their religious and spiritual connections, making them social pillars. They are the ones who speak to the god(s) and carry their word. Particularly well-spoken priests may even draw in religious followers from further away, or convert those of different religions to their own, gaining a special sort of recognition for their skills.

Perception

Purpose

Priests are religious figureheads, and a major form of authority among religions. While not all cultures have them, among those who do, they tend to be major figures in managing spirituality among the people. In some cultures, religion is tightly interwoven with the government, turning priests into authority figures, while in others they stand separate.   Among the Society, priests are major figures of authority. Though they are not directly connected to the leaders, they fulfill an important advisory role, speaking for their god.
