Brilliant Blast

A racing peryton renown for his beauty and great speed, Brilliant Blast is an animal with a lot of... character. His high speed and grace make him a champion racer, and his beautiful plumage make him a visual feast--and a great mascot--but his character is what makes him so widely popular.   Brilliant Blast is widely renown for goofing around, mostly outside of races... but not exclusively. He's a stubborn animal, content to find his own ways to do things, and rarely listens to handlers and riders. Owners are unlikely to retire him, however, because when he can be bothered to try, Brilliant Blast's sheer speed tends to blow competitors out of the water. Not to mention that his popularity alone can draw in quite a bit of attention and, with it, money. A few shed feathers can sell for enough to make up for any races Brilliant Blast loses.  

Heritage

Brilliant Blast born from two other racing perytons, Fallen Starstreak (sire) and Wandering Wisp (dam). He's widely considered to have inherited his speed from his father and character from his mother, with his coloring combining the best of both, but of course this is an overly simplistic way of looking at the matter. While Wandering Wisp was also known to have obedience issues, she doesn't come close to Brilliant Blast, and certainly doesn't achieve the same goofy nature that people know him for.   In turn, Brilliant Blast has sired a good number of offspring himself. Many hope to breed his speed and grace onto an animal at least a little more prone to listening to handlers, but so far few can live up to Brilliant Blast himself. Still, success has to be achieved sooner or later, if only because Brilliant Blast himself will slow down eventually. No animal can live a long life racing, and Brilliant Blast certainly doesn't have the character to let himself be run to death.
