Atsvumchi Cloak
A type of cloak worn by the Atsvumchi people. An islander culture, many of them live their lives by the seaside, or are in close contact with those who do. Materials taken from the sea are often more plentiful than those from the land, if an equivalent can even be found. Among those is sea wyvern leather, harvested from oceanic sea wyverns. Unique among leathers, sea wyvern leather is fully waterproof, a desirable trait for people tied so closely to the water.
A real, proper atsvumchi cloak is made out of sea wyvern leather, granting it proper water-proofing. Although one might think they're just for seagoers, for those who live by the coast, but the cloak is so strongly associated with the atsvumchi people because everyone wears them. Their home island is covered almost entirely in tropical forest, of a type which sees distinct wet and dry seasons. And the wet season isn't just wet, but the rainy phase of a monsoon, bringing with it severe rainfall and strong winds. Waterproof cloaks allow the atsvumchi people to keep living their regular lives without being soaked to the bone every time they step outside.
Mechanics & Inner Workings
Its functioning is very straight-forward. Atsvumchi cloaks are made to cover much of the body, even for the tall vri̊ysh who typically wear them. Made out of water-proof sea wyvern leather, they thus protect the wearer from rainfall (and other such things).
Manufacturing process
Hand-made, but its loose wear means they rarely have to be made to fit. Many atsvumchi will wear ones made by their family, at least in the past, but in modern times more and more often they're made by atsvumchi tailors.
