Drake
The drake is a taxonmical family of dragon species that live in Dracia. There are five species of this dragon, all designated by their environment; the plains drake, the river drake, the desert drake, the mountain drake and the artic drake. Despite their differences, all drakes share physical and behavior similarities.
Basic Information
Anatomy
The drake resembles the western dragon in some aspects; a sturdy body with a blocky head and a thick tail. However, they lack the western's wings and long neck.
A drake's scales are thick along their back, from the neck to the end of their back legs. This protects them from other drakes or prey that fight back.
With their long legs, a drake's hunting stragety is usually running down prey until they're exhausted. Then once they're close enough, the drake try to 'trip' the hapless creature and pounce on top.
Ecology and Habitats
The drake is the most adaptable of the dragon species and thus can be found anywhere.
Dietary Needs and Habits
The drake species are carnivorous creatures that feast on larger prey. If nessesary, they can eat smaller animals.
Behaviour
Hoarding
A drake's hoarding instinct is diminished compared to other dragon species. They often just gather colorful stones to line their nests.Additional Information
Perception and Sensory Capabilities
Drakes have the same strong eyesight and sense of smell as their western cousins.
