After Death

Skolgar's role as the god of death and the underworld is to guide the souls of the dead to their final resting place in the underworld. When a mortal being passes away, their soul is said to be released from their body and drifts into the spirit world, a shadowy realm between the mortal world and the underworld. It is here that Skolgar makes his presence known, appearing before the soul in the guise of a hooded figure. Skolgar is said to possess an aura of calmness and peace, and his voice is described as being soothing and gentle. He speaks to the soul, comforting and guiding it, and reassuring it that it is safe to enter the underworld. Once the soul has accepted Skolgar's guidance, he leads it through the shadowy realm and into the underworld itself. The underworld is a vast realm of spirits, full of twisting tunnels and dark caverns. Skolgar is said to be intimately familiar with every nook and cranny of this realm, and he guides the souls of the dead through its many twists and turns with ease. As they journey deeper into the underworld, the soul may encounter other spirits and beings, both benevolent and malevolent. Skolgar protects the souls of the dead from these spirits, using his scythe of pure shadow to ward off any threats. Finally, they arrive at the entrance to the final resting place of the dead, a place known as the Hall of Shadows. Here, Skolgar bids the soul farewell, and hands it over to the guardians of the hall. These guardians are said to be spirits of those who have gone before, and they welcome the soul into their midst, providing it with food and drink, and offering it comfort and companionship. Skolgar's role in guiding the souls of the dead to their final resting place is an important one in Zelmors' culture and mythology. It is seen as a necessary part of the cycle of life and death, and is treated with the utmost respect and reverence.
