Calendar and time
The plane of is flat. It has two suns, which are collectively called Ako's Eyes. When the two suns dip over the horizon, they poke back out an hour later, now twin moons, which go back the way they came in from, like a pendulum.
A day is measured by the full revolution of Ako's Eyes in the sky. When they dip over the horizon, night begins, and a new day begins when the eyes rise from the horizon. Sunlight lasts for about ten hours, and night lasts for ten as well, making the days twenty hours long.
When Ako created the worlds that came before Domhan, he initially wanted for the climate to be always temperate, and that rain should never fall upon his creations. However, he soon realised that this created poor conditions for plants to grow in and for animals to thrive in. For Domhan, he created a more chaotic, yet more varied environment.
Thus, the world of Domhan knows three seasons:
- Sun Season, or Summer,
- Rain Season, or Monsoon,
- Snow Season, or Winter.
- Akoday (after Ako)
- Novaday (after Rafinova)
- Nyoday (after Nyoka)
- Trokaday (after Trokair)
- Zakoday (after Zakon)
- Rasday (after Rastlin)
- Eolday (after Eolas)
- Melday (after Meloch)
