The shanty of Captain Oleg
A cautionary tale about greedy sailors
Oh! Captain Oleg and a crew of four
Sailed away from the Skarmian shore
A boat full of ale and merchandise
to trade with the people of foreign isles
But on the night with the no moon sky
they heard their boat's keel getting dry
As they ran ashore on an unknown rock
the captain and crew were in shock
The ebb tide had begotten it
thought the crew seeking food to eat
and in the dark one thing stood out
An iridescent sea-borne sprout
The fruit smelled like their olden years
The hardened sailors choked full of tears
As soon as they took their first bite
no other food was ever gonna be alright
They tried their best to carry it home
but it would wilt away if not left alone
until they came up with a cunning trick
to capture it with a fancy rig
On the third day the waters came flushing in
untrapping the boat and the crew within
The gleeful sailors started sailing home
loudly singing shanties like a drunken gnome
But the offering they now bore
was not allowed to touch the shore
The lady's servants must have known
the fruit was for no man to own
Oh captain Oleg and his crew of four
are they now fish poop on the ocean floor?
No one can tell but o! heed thee
Your greed should never be brought at sea.
