The Fruit of the Ebb Tide
If you ever find yourself sharing fish stew with sailors, you’ll hear many tales. And everyone knows—no one stretches the truth like sailors do.
One of those legends speaks of a singular delicacy. A fruit said to carry the scent of childhood itself. They say that a single bite brings the greatest joy you’ve ever known. Not a memory, not a fantasy—but something truer than anything you’ve lived. They say that once you’ve tasted those magical juices, you'll never want to return to your old life. That many have tried to take it home, to plant it or preserve it—but all in vain. The legendary sea-fruit crumbles into dust the moment it’s plucked.
Many have searched for where it grows, but no one truly knows. The tale claims it appears only by accident—on nights when Sel and Lun begin their dance, like new lovers. Sailors adrift under the twin-new-moon sky find themselves suddenly grounded on an island that appears on no map.
There, as they wander, disoriented and awestruck, something else catches their eye. In the middle of the night, glowing like a green emerald, a strange flower blooms in a tidepool of seawater. Examine it closely and you'll find it has no familiar shape, no texture like any fruit you’ve ever seen. It is silky, ripe, and alluring in a way that defies sense.
But every sailor will tell you: no sin weighs heavier at sea than greed. Woe to the one who cannot be satisfied with a single bite. No one ever saw Captain Oleg again—or his crew—after a great sea-beast swallowed them whole. And those who defy the rest of the spirits… know to fear Undralis.
Three days—no more—will the stranded remain. Three days alone on a phantom isle, ruled by the sea.
The name Undralis, mentioned in the myth, refers to the Elder Spirit of Waves and Tides, daughter of Naebur, the god of the Seas.
