The Great Conflict

Disaster / Destruction

Year 0

In a bid to undermine the true gods, a separate pantheon of once-benevolent nature spirits attempted to plunge the world into anarchy. As different gods chose sides for various reasons, the battle raged on and caused enough mayhem that Dohmis himself was forced to intervene.

Once upon a time, the group now known as the Corrupted Gods - a group of mortals who, through powerful magic, ascended to a sort of quasi-divinity and became revered animal spirits of nature - were benevolent beings. They watched over the natural wonders they had grown to love in their mortality. But eventually things began to shift. They started to become corrupted for reasons unknown, as their light began to turn dark. Eventually they decided to destroy the current state of the world and bring total anarchy to Dohma. Led by the fearsome Stag, they waged war upon the cosmos. A number of gods joined their side for various reasons: Khandara, the Dominator, joined their effort out of her devotion to the ideals of conquest; Frigia, the Ice Witch, turned against the gods out of spite and jealousy towards Ignathis, the King of Cinders, and Empasia, the Heart of the World; Enigmus, the Maker of Mischief, didn't take any sides and interfered with both parties for his own pleasure. The battle lasted a full year. When it began, the world was consumed in chaos. Life as we know it was crumbling, and the tendrils of Farlorath, the Boundless Chaos, were piercing into our reality. Eventually, as the world was on the brink of total annihilation, Dohmis, the Grand Architect, was forced to descend upon his creation and end the conflict once and for all. He restabilized the world and stopped the fighting, and all that was left was to punish the Corrupted Gods for their transgressions. The five Corrupted Gods did indeed suffer for their sins. Three of them were imprisoned on Dohma itself: Their leader, Stag, was sealed beneath the largest tree in the world; Frog was trapped under the swamp; Raven was thrown into the ice of the inhospitable north. Owl was instead imprisoned within Dohma's moon. The last one, whose name and purpose are unknown, never fought in the battle: they defied Stag and were brutally murdered as a result, lost to time and forgotten by all. The ramifications of this event are still felt in the world today. Civilizations fell, and the world was forever changed.
