Tiamat

Tiamat (a.k.a. The Chromatic Dragon; Queen of Evil Dragons)

Tiamat, the Chromatic Dragon and Queen of Evil Dragons, is a vast and ancient being of primordial power, revered and feared as both a creator goddess and a cosmic destroyer. Alongside her twin and eternal rival Bahamut, Tiamat is said in the oldest myths to have helped shape the First World—a primordial realm of perfection that shattered under the weight of its own divine tensions, scattering fragments into the countless worlds of the multiverse.

Tiamat is most often depicted as an immense, terrifying dragon with five heads, each one the color and breath weapon of a different chromatic dragon: black (acid), blue (lightning), green (poison), red (fire), and white (cold). Each head is a fully sentient aspect of her mind, capable of independent thought and fury. Her body is vast and scaled in all five hues, her wings blot out the sky, and her presence exudes suffocating dominance and malice.

She rules over Avernus, the first layer of the Nine Hells, from a lair of volcanic stone and treasure-filled caverns—though her true power and essence transcend planar boundaries. Her influence reaches across the multiverse through cults, dragons, and tyrants who venerate her as the ultimate symbol of greed, supremacy, and domination. Where Bahamut teaches wisdom, justice, and restraint, Tiamat embodies power taken without apology and glory seized by force.

Tiamat's ambitions are as vast as her wingspan. She seeks nothing less than the conquest of all realms, the elevation of chromatic dragons as supreme rulers, and the subjugation of gods and mortals alike. Her goals are not fueled by chaos or destruction for its own sake, but by the calculated desire to rule an empire of fear and wealth, with her hoarded power as the crown jewel of the cosmos.

Yet for all her might, Tiamat is a being of tragedy as well. In many versions of the myth, it was her ambition and hunger for supremacy that shattered the First World, casting her into conflict not only with Bahamut but with the other gods who feared her rising power. Her exile to the Hells is often seen not just as punishment, but as a containment—an attempt by the divine pantheon to keep her fury and dominion in check.

Her worshippers include tyrants, warlords, and chromatic dragons, as well as cultists who crave absolute power. She grants visions of conquest, hoards of gold, and strength beyond mortal limits, but always demands utter loyalty and the crushing of all opposition. Her cults are often secretive, bloody, and richly adorned, spreading her influence through fear and prophecy.

To oppose Tiamat is to stand against the raw, ancient will to dominate. To serve her is to seek strength in the shadow of a goddess who devours kings, gods, and worlds alike. And always, somewhere in the multiverse, her five heads are watching—hungering, plotting, and waiting for the day when her dominion is no longer whispered in fear, but declared in flame.
