Tor
The Tor were a magocracy that were once part of the Al'draken Republic. Its rulers abandoned the Republic following the ascension of the Fifth Triumvirate, the mages electing to lift their capital of Arathoxia into the sky, using the newly-discovered technology of loftstones, and relocate the city to western Zandrazil. Following a series of minor conflicts which established their rule over the region surrounding the Ilkaja Valley, the magocracy continued to function for several thousand years under a tentative peace with both the first Urkesh Empire and the Voldrak Empire.
Disbandment
Most of the wizards of Tor were killed in the fall of Arathoxia in 143 ME, effectively disbanding the organization as a significant force in geopolitics. Those arcanists who did survive the cataclysm went into hiding, fearing reprisal for their connection to Petrarch Vitroni, who had nearly destroyed the world. In recent years, isolated reports of Tor-led cults have popped up throughout Divostra and some wizards of Tor have managed to infiltrate foreign governments, offering their considerable arcane prowess in service of kings and autocrats unaware of their connection to the Sundering.
