Tombguard of the God Before
She is the mother of us all, and yet we failed her through weakness and inaction. She died to protect us from those that would do us harm and still her blood has allowed us to survive. Her eternal gift.
-Common Tombguard Prayer
What does the cult of a dead god look like? One would think that there isn't much reason such a cult would remain together. That's what happens in the GodIndustry after all. A god dies, spent faith goes nowhere, and only risks the half revival of that god. Another god is needed, anyways, so cults move on.
The Tombguard, however, will not let the Primordial God of Man be forgotten.
Their places of worship are the largely abandoned cathedrals of the God Before, built centuries before during the time before the Ichormachy, and monuments to her glory. Anything that bears her visage or her symbols, the Tombguard protect viciously against vandalism, squatting, and demolition by all parties. Civilians, city authorities, and governments all face the same treatment by the Tombguard, which has giving them a rather unsavory reputation. Some equate them to nothing but sactified bandits.
They are often viewed as fanatical bandits of a sort, and border on being classified as a rogue cult at all times. To avoid loss of life, they are often left alone unless they become confrontational, which is not uncommon.
The Mourners, as they're sometimes called, have been noted to act uniquely in certain situations, where they send out agents from their holy places to accompany individuals and objects to make sure they are protected until some unknown criteria is completed. Their motivation for these actions remains shrouded, and outside perspectives have not been incisive enough to provide and answer. For the Mother of Man
