The Mourning Wars

A series of skirmishes and wars that were fought between the many city-states that came into being on the human Throne of Canvas‌ after the Ichormachy‌. The name 'mourning war' comes from the general belief (especially in the new field of Psychology) that the wars largely happened in response to the death of the God Before‌ as Man was still trying to figure things out on how to deal with the grief of losing their deity. There was once a gross or more City States, but the Mourning Wars whittled that number down to the current compliment. While they still maintain the title of City States, some have grown far beyond that size due to the territory they captured during the Wars, but they maintain the general structure, and often focus their development around their capital.
