The Chamber of Little Flames

It sounds ridiculous, does it not? To prize the truth of the world from the mouths of a thousand tiny candle-flames? I would laugh at the idea too, if I hadn't seen it done. If I hadn't spoken to the flames myself.

They are a just and kind prophet, serving no god but those who would aid a search for knowledge.

Folk-belief has always painted the Djinn as a race that was inherently magical. Other than the presence of several magician and sorcerer gods in the Genie pantheon, such depictions are untrue. Their skills with their gods blessings, however, can't be understated, resulting in many impressive constructions.

The most notable, perhaps, is the aforementioned Chamber of Little Flames. A spherical brass chamber that has several shelves around its perimeter. These shelves are actually troughs containing a seemingly limitless reservoir of lamp oil, allowing a series of hundreds of oil lamps to function continuously.

Djinn priests can enter the chamber and meditate, listening to the gentle crackling of the candleflames. It is said that if one is perceptive enough, the gods will communicate the future through those cracklings. It is only for the priest to interpret what they heard.

While the Chamber of Little Flames was more popular in the past, it has long since fallen out of the consideration of "serious" Djinn rulers. None would openly deny its efficacy, but all are aware of its inconsistent nature.
