Panasho Fungi

Description

This Fungi can be easily identified by a strong smell of sour milk in the vicinity. It can be found latching onto stone surfaces, living predominantly off of eating stone. It generally will look like an orange, moist fuzz. It grows rather slowly and is otherwise easy to remove with minimal issues. It is often regarded as taboo to use it on unwilling subjects due to its mind-altering capabilities. In the region of Panasho, they have mostly used it on uncooperative prisoners who refuse to detail the nature of their crimes or if there is a strong suspicion of them being dishonest. It has the taste of sweet cheese. It offers no nutritional benefits to consume.  

Effects

The Fungi operates in the body by requiring some buildup of it in the body. By ingesting it through the mouth, typically served as a paste on bread. If someone was to consume three large servings within a week, it is trusted to take and stay in the body permanently.   After a week, the mind of the subject that consumes it becomes very compliant to any individual who levels a direct, and clear instruction that it understands. This can range from telling the truth of an event, hand over all of their personal property to another, to being willing to commit outright murder on behalf of another. Though the latter is often unsuccessful as the subject simply obeys the last command it receives, even if it is in direct contradiction of a previous instruction. The subject will have perfect memory and recollection of everything it does and may exhibit frustration by their compulsion to comply. Even if it attempts to resist, it will suffer extraordinary pain as it still carries out the order, thus often recommended once under its effects to simply go with the orders.   The effects are regarded as irreversible. Panasho maintains a colony of victims of these fungi, separated from larger society for their own safety. It is advised if you have suffered this level of exposure as a female, that you should not procreate as your children will be infected with it.  

Purpose

Due to the irreversible nature of it, nobody in Nakarado considers touching the fungi. Panasho has a very narrow realm of where they will willingly use it on uncooperative prisoners, but as a whole it is well known for being used to carry out high-level assassinations, ultimately breaking someone who was a former blood enemy, to breaking unwilling slaves. Many people point to its former widespread use on slaves is the reason that the culture reformed to a more compassionate model of slavery.   There are edge cases of using such fungi is considered honorable, but one must weigh other factors of destroying a subject's entire future life for a specific goal.  

Legal Status

Nakarado regards the substance and all byproducts of it illegal, as per all things from Panasho illegal within the land. It is regarded as severely dishonorable to use this substance on another living being.
