Karel
Karel was one of the provinces of the old Khyrric Kingdom that held sway before the Kheravazan Empire took over the mantle. The sole province who refused to assimilate and was capable enough to push back the Empire's forces, Karel has been a thorn in the Empire's side since the Empire's birth. Currently, Karel and the Kheravazan Empire have a non-aggression pact, but everyone knows that the two nations are in a cold war. Karel has always and will always be on the back foot against the empire, they have less advanced magic and occupy much less land. But they have not made a habit of backing down.
Predominantly home to orcs, Karel is a land of thick forests and craggy plains. The orcs mostly live along the coast, with very few settlements - large settlements that is - cropping up much further beyond the banks of the ocean or the rivers of the land. Many in Irulia come to Karel to learn medicine, for the orcish people of these lands have some of the most sophisticated medical schools and facilities available in the Known World. Much of the current breakthroughs in hygiene and medical science originate in the prestigious schools of Karel.
