"The Era Brothers"

———————— Dressed in scrawedly brown clothes, The Waning Moon stands just at the edge of the ledge. The sky should ne’er be as awake as they are, but the other face of the earth can not seem to say the same. It’s a tiring game they have seemed to rope themself into, but the mere mention of sleep has yet to cross their mind. All they can think about is the moon overhead, casting light down onto the world around them and their seemingly lack of identity.   Who are they? They don’t seem to bear a moniker, sealing their mind away from a sense of personal identity. Can they be distinguished from the man in the woods or from the girl across the dirt path of their caretaker’s abode? Can they be pinpointed as theirself or are they blanked out from the world as a whole? Who are they? Well, the moon bears no answers.   That’s just it: the moon. Their sense of identity must be tied to the moon. They come and visit the moon on the same ledge, teetering on the verge of sanity and insanity. They’d have no reason to come here if the moon had not drawn their attention and concentration towards it, leading them to continue the same stricken routine. Great zeal was focused towards keeping themself awak as the nights leer on, leaving them behind. Yes, their human appearance bears no resemblance to the illuminated ball in the sky, but if they did not know their own name, then who are they?   If they identified as the moon in the sky, what good would it do them? They’ve never heard of someone identifying as an object before, but it doesn’t hurt to be the first, does it? The decision was made: they’d now be the moon. The only kind of identity that they have to their “name” is the moon in the starry night sky…where are the others?   Their memories are all but clear and sure. It’s all hazy and a mix of blurred colors and sounds. It’s a cacophony of a loud and blaring ringing in their ears along with whatever muffled sounds were being omitted from the memory in their head. That’s a lesson for them: do not try to remember your past. You’ll get a headache, which they did far too often. When they think that they’re sure they can remember something, the same result happens: a headache. They gave up trying after a while.   The only thing that they truly remember is three other boys being in the same household as them. They can’t remember the boys’ names, but he figured that they were brothers despite not sharing the same last name. What were their last names? They could only remember a “w”, “m”, and a “c”, but what do those letters mean in this context?
