The Progenitor Wars
Military: War
In the early days of existence, the world of Dionis was plunged into chaos as the Dark One emerged from the depths, sparking a great conflict that came to be known as the Progenitor Wars. This war, which raged on for years, saw the creation of countless humanoid and monstrous races as a means to combat the opposing force. The act of creation became a weapon in this epic struggle for survival, ultimately shaping the very fabric of the world.
The First Forces:
The First Forces refer to the earliest creations produced by both sides during the Progenitor Wars. These creatures were considered to be among the most powerful beings to exist on the material plane at that time.
Primordial Titans: The first creations of the Titans were the Dragons, Angels, Giants, and Fey, serving as the foundational genetic lines for all mortal races that came after them. These creatures were among the most powerful forces introduced to the material plane during the Progenitor Wars. While there are rare instances of some of these ancient beings still living, they wield immense power and may choose to remain hidden from the world.
The Dark One: The forces that were initially created by the Dark One were the embodiment of chaos and corruption, infused with alien ichor that twisted their very essence. These twisted creations became known as the First Aberrations, Monstrosities, Undead, and
Nephilim, each group imbued with the Dark One's Essence, allowing them to act as a single, unified force in battle. Their abilities and strengths were tailored to the Dark One's whims, giving him a formidable army to wield in his conquest of the material plane.
Rise of the Humanoids:
The creation of the first humanoids marked a turning point in the war against the Dark One. The Titans had tried everything, using the power of the First Forces to fight back, but it was all too much. Many of their creations had become corrupted in the long and brutal battles, and something new was needed. So the Titans convened and pooled the best aspects of each of their creations. From their conference, Polus and Terra began to harness materials from Dionis and call upon the trenches of the Astral Sea. After 40 days and 30 nights, humanoids rose from the ground and into the world.
At first, the humanoids were confused, but some had more instinct than others. The Dragonborn, for example, called upon the elements that occurred on Dionis and, with the help of their new brethren, the Elves, they were able to draw from the elemental planes themselves, accessing mighty energies beyond the vision of the gods. From their cries and summons, Leylines formed on Dionis, giving access to magic outside the material plane on converged locations in the world. Meanwhile, humans and dwarfs were efficient in building and elevating the tactics of combat, taking it upon themselves to manufacture and create beyond the scope of their makers. They built ships to combat the infinite depths, helms to protect the minds of the many, and even created cities as means of commune for all humanoids and creatures to grow close.
Although the Dark One had immense power, what the Titans had accomplished with the creation of humanoids was something that could not be fathomed. Polus and Terra had called upon the foundational energies of the Astral and Material plane, but somehow, their creations - the humanoids - were able to extend beyond the foundational laws and into new realms. With their intense connection to extraordinary forces such as Arcana, Nature, and Divinity, the existence of humanoids with access to these forces expanded the domains immensely, giving the Primordial Titans an upper hand in their efforts against the Dark One.
The First Deceiver:
Infuriated by the Titans' success in creating humanoids, The Dark One saw the need to take swift and calculated action to counter their efforts. His focus was on the Elves, whom he saw as a significant threat to his malevolent power. Slowly but surely, The Dark One's influence seeped into the Elves' society, corrupting their beliefs and turning their nature into malevolence. Thus, the Drow were born, a malevolent and ruthless group.
As his pawns, The Dark One empowered the Drow, using them to infiltrate and destabilize other humanoid societies. Their mastery in deception and infiltration made them valuable assets in manipulating and controlling other groups in the name of their dark lord. The Drow's ruthlessness, coupled with their skill in combat and infiltration, made them a formidable foe for the other humanoid societies. The following information is alleged and may not have the entire frame of what happened that day, but it is what is left from this time:
Polymorphed into one of his corrupted servants, The Dark One surveyed the ranks of the Drow, seeing multiple humanoids among them, but none of them looked immediately like the Titans. His eyes glowed with malevolent delight as he realized that the Titans had fallen for his trickery. The decision to be accompanied by a group of adventurers would prove to be their downfall.
As The Dark One surveyed the group of adventurers who accompanied the Titans, his eyes darted from one to another, searching for any sign that would reveal their true identity. His shapechanged form allowed him to blend in seamlessly with the Drow, making it easier for him to observe the group without drawing suspicion. He scrutinized every detail, analyzing their movements, their expressions, and the way they carried themselves. At first, nothing seemed out of the ordinary, and The Dark One grew increasingly frustrated. But as he continued to watch, a faint aura began to emanate from two of the adventurers. It was a subtle glow, barely visible to the naked eye, but he saw it, it was unmistakable. A wicked smile spread across his face as he realized he had found them.
"You two have a certain air about you," he said, his voice seemingly harmless. "It's almost as if you carry the weight of the world on your shoulders." All of the adventurers exchanged a wary glance as they realized The Dark One had discovered their true identities. "But don't worry," The Dark One continued with a twisted smile, "I will relieve you of that burden soon enough." And with that, he unleashed a dark energy that left the adventurers and Titans writhing on the ground in agony, helpless and at his mercy. Annoited now with a new Title, "The First Deceiver" he approaches.
The Titans, weakened by their transformation into human forms, were vulnerable to The Dark One's influence. His power over the Drow gave him a significant advantage, and he relished the thought of using his power to dominate the world. For this was more than just a victory over his enemies; now without the Titans, it was the beginning of a new era, an era in which he would reign supreme.
