Emperor Hantei Maro

Personal History:

  Emperor Hantei Maro is 5th in the Hantei Dynasty, one of two families to have hold power of the emperor's throne in Torishani. Hantei Maro was crestened into the postition of emperor following his fathers death in 1823, it was during his arraignment as Emperor that a ritual would be cast onto him emboldening his bloodline connections to the elemental planes. Hantei Maro is said to have taken to the ritual well having one of the most established connections with the elemental kami within Torishani history. Maro spent his early years as emperor realigning the elemental forces across Torishani granting the peoples of the continent peace with the environment forming an almost symbiotic bond with the land itself.    This task would bring him face to face with many figures of influence in Torishani such as the righteous Hanzo Lamid, Head of the Tiger Clan who wielded exceptional ambush forces; Suki Hakuza, Shogun of the Sparrow Clan, shapers of stories and art; Borai Nagizumi, Head Scribe of the Deer Clan, spellshapers renowned for their secret arts and healing magic; and finally Onaga Yue, Lost Child of the Serpent Clan, wielder of Curses and Founder of the Void. It is through each of these individuals that the Emperor would resolve the Elemental Crisis.  

Ruling History:

  After establishing himself within history after resolving the Elemental Crisis he would turn his attention to the tension that lingered amongst the animal clans of Torishani. This situation would prove to be a more delicate as the Animal Clans had recently found means of procurring exotic arms from Lynoa, Arnovia, and The Keys, things such as: firearms, cannons, ballistae, and mortars. With such advancements with warring threats the Emperor needed to find a way to broker peace through any means necessary. Emperor Maro would call forth from the lands any and all who could speak with the kami, claiming a new crisis was brewing beyond the comprehension of the material plane. During this event Maro would create the Magnolia, an organization of experienced elementalist and tactitians that held one motive, create a phenomena so powerful and otherwordly it would unite the clans out of a common enemy. This move brought some flak amongst the ranks of priests and druids that populated the ranks of the Magnolia and the kami speakers. Splintering off from the Emperor's mission a faction of rogue agents sought to oppose the potential phenomena the Emporer sought to bring forward, fearing the potential damage it would cause to the nation.    So one of the largest and most dangerous races began in the country. With 1834 marking the year were tensions between the two factions were at the all time high, with plans from the Emperor being intercepted proclaiming his attempts to use the Magnolia and their Kami Speakers to bring forth a common enemy for the clans to unite against. The rogue agents took on additional recruits and resources even reaching out to Bedlam hoping the agents of chaos would help bring down Emperor's Maro's plans. On the 156th day of 1834 the Magnolia gathered along with their trained kami speakers and began to recite a spell in a secret gathering. The Rogue Agents along with Bedlam would attempt to intervene in the event and after a two hour conflict the agents would claim a resounding loss. Few of the Kami Speakers knew the true nature of the spell they were reciting that day, with only the tops of the Magnolia knowing the true extent of the spell.    The spell was called "Call from the Void", many elemental spirits were gathered there that day and as the spell continued on it seemed as if they were consumed by the energy the spell created. At the end of the spells recitation a large implosion occured at the gathering sight, assumingly consumed the kami speakers and elementals alike. What remained was something that could not have been anticipated by any other than the spell's creator. Emperor Maro was warned about another "coup" happening and how a massive ritual was being used against Torishani. Knowing of the gathering and what would come after ritual, Maro reached out to the animal clans warning them of what was to come, but not his part in the scheme. With the forces of Torishani gathered in the named location, Banzikatsu Valley, they faced a large creature that held immense power.    The creature stood 50ft at its tallest point, the creature has four massive dragonfly wings that shimmer in a glow unlike anything of the material plane. Its body is similar to that of a sphinx that towers among canyons, made up of a substance that seemed to glow a bright black and white. Finally the creature's face was similar to a raccoon having a large snout, with ant like mandibles extending out and around, these mandibles are large enough to crush normal sized land vehicles.    With Emperor Maro at the lead of Torishani's forces he would lead the clans to a four day endevour to defeat the Void Creature. It would take the clans combined might to seal the creature away, none of the forces could find a way to permanently incapacitate the creature, with the culmination of Maro's reign seemingly being the location and method of the creature's sealing.    Emperor Maro's actions in summoning the creature to the public are widely unknown, but with the Agents composed of remaining kami speakers and the Bedlam knowing his role in the destruction he can count on the factions being enemies for the rest of his days.
