Leshy

Leshies biology is a mixed bag of flora.  A body can be made by a skilled druid out of whatever living plants they have at their disposal.  There are Leshy bodies that range from simple woven vines and branches to more exotic things like cacti.  Their needs are also dependent upon the plants used.  Some Leshies must photosynthesize, others need only to draw nutrients in with roots, even further some may require decaying matter to consume.

Leshies were once, and occasionally still are used by druids as familiars or guardians.  Many Leshies you encounter today were made long ago and their creators are long dead.  These leshies have chosen to remain in these physical bodies and act as nature wardens.  Some have opted to help farmers tend their crops, others travel where the wind takes them.  Typically non-combative, Leshies find love and peace in growing things. It is more common to find a Leshy in a forest or on a farm than it is to see one travelling abroad, but a Leshy who travels is typically one being sent with a purpose.

Leshies can be found all across Diadamel in a variety of forms.  A Leshy's body cannot thrive in the far North though.  The ice cap is no place for a Leshy.

Leshies were a creation before the great sundering that split the old continent into many.  Druids would weave bodies from whatever flora they had available and invite nature spirits to enter these effigies.  The body itself is often confused to be the Leshy, but it is actually the spirit of nature that resides within it.  Back before the cataclysm the bodies made for the spirits were gargantuan and could house several like-minded Leshy spirits.  They would act as guardians not only for the druids, but the areas they resided in.  As the years passed there were fewer druids to weave these massive bodies, and so the vessels for Leshy spirits have gotten much smaller and often less potent in their creation.

Leshies tend to hold all forms of life sacred and will only attack if threatened or starving.  They are oddly capable of getting along with any species, or happily serving any species, so long as nature is respected and treated with care.
