Halfling
Halflings as a species are mysterious in origin. It is true that they were created by The Three on Diadamel, but no one is sure why. It is speculated that halflings were brought into being to be optimists in times of gloom, or to offer a touch of luck to those they found themselves near. It has long been superstition that if you were to rub a halfling's head it would share its luck with you. And lucky halflings are, uncannily so in fact. So lucky that one could stare down the snout of a fire breathing dragon, tell a joke, and be able to leave with only minor singeing around their edges.
Communities of halflings tend to crop up around human settlements, humans being perhaps their biggest allies (badum tiss). However, halfling villages are not entirely unheard of but they are a little more rare than goblins standing beneath the open sun. Having spent many years learning how to cultivate land, halflings have a deep fondness for everything that grows and will become insulted if you trample through their gardens without any regard for the plants there.
