Dwarf

Short and stalwart, dwarves have made their homes and fortresses in mountains for centuries.  From a young age the typical dwarf is taught how to cut stone and identify precious metals and gems.  It really wasn't until the sundering that dwarves began to spread out from their mountain homes.  The world was reshaped and the dwarves had to adapt when mountains crumbled away into sea and new ones grew elsewhere.  Tradition is seldom lost though.   Although dwarves prefer mountainous areas to settle in, they've also taken a liking to plains and riverlands.  The land offered them a bounty that they had been unfamiliar with, but quickly embraced.  The growing of crops such as hops and barley had become a staple to their civilization.  Along with this, new types of ales had become a specialty and a boon to the economy.  Some dwarves even settled along trade routes and built inns and taverns to comfort the weary travelers.   The tenacity of a dwarf isn't to be ignored.  Perhaps not as tenacious as an orc, but still a great threat should you ever meet one in combat.  Their stocky bodies help to strengthen their short legs.  Some dwarves can wear heavy suits of plate mail and wield great weapons without any hindrance from the weight.  Others are familiar with stonework, and then there are those who specialize in working a forge.
