The Sins
The Sins, avatars of Kybaleen, the Goddess of Balance, were created during a period of overwhelming peace and structure in the world. Kybaleen's intention was to reintroduce a controlled amount of chaos into the world to restore balance, counteracting the excessive order and structure that had permeated society.
Originally, the Sins consisted of eleven avatars, each representing a different mortal vice or flaw. These included Dishonesty, Doubt, Envy, Gluttony, Greed, Lust, Neglect, Obsession, Pride, Sloth, and Wrath. Each Sin embodied the negative aspects associated with their respective vices, bringing forth the necessary chaos to counterbalance the prevailing order.
However, the interference of Nromrore, the Goddess of Chaos, resulted in the addition of two more members to the Sins: Mischief and Misfortune. They joined the original eleven Sins, further expanding the range of chaos and disruption they could cause. The addition of Mischief and Misfortune expanded the scope of the Sins' influence, encompassing not only specific vices but also the unpredictable and disruptive nature of mischief and the unfortunate events that befall individuals.
Each of the original Sins had a unique ability that would influence the minds of mortal and drive them to sin. The method was different for each Sin and could range from hearing their voice to making physical contact to even simply catching their gaze. They each also had a secondary ability that was only tangentially related to their Sin and was used not to influence mortals but to simply allow them to cause more chaos as needed.
The most seemingly mundane of the Sins, Mischief's only extraodrinary ability was her talent for mischief and misdirection. Her power lay in her ability to carry out elaborate and perplexing pranks that surpassed the mischievous nature of even the most playful fey creatures. With her cunning and knack for misdirection, she delighted in causing confusion and bewilderment among mortals, often leaving them perplexed and scratching their heads at the mischief she caused.
On the other hand, Misfortune possessed an aura of profound negativity and calamity. Wherever Misfortune went, an air of impending disaster hung heavy, and unfortunate events seemed to unfold in their wake. Their presence brought about accidents, mishaps, and unexpected misfortunes that plagued those around them. It was as if a dark cloud of ill fate followed them, casting a shadow upon all who crossed their path. It was the very threat of this aura that brought the original Sins under Misfortune's control.
