The Great Cataclysm

Disaster / Destruction

Fall of the Ancients

In a pursuit of ultimate power, the Ancients brought on a great Cataclysm, and the destruction of the natural order. Eradicating themselves from history, while changing the world forever. Leaving a ravaged and deserted Sulidar in its wake.

In an age before memory, when the world still sang with the untamed melodies of life an fertility, there arose an event of cataclysmic proportions that would forever alter the very fabric of existence. The Great Cataclysm, a term whispered in hushed tones across generations, marked a turning point in the annals of time, a moment when the veil between reality and the arcane was rent asunder.   In the heart of a forgotten age, the Ancients, masters of eldritch lore and wielders of magic beyond mortal comprehension, gazed upon their world with both reverence and hubris. Their desire to transcend the boundaries of their understanding, to grasp the threads of reality itself, led them to a fateful convergence of forces.   It is said that the Ancients, in their pursuit of ultimate power, sought to breach the Veil—the ethereal barrier that had stood since the dawn of creation, separating the planes and curbing the raw essence of magic. United by their ambition, they assembled in a place of convergence, where ley lines and cosmic currents intertwined like the roots of an immense tree. And there, amid whispered incantations and ritualistic symphonies, they channeled their collective will to rend the Veil asunder.   The world trembled as the Veil fractured, releasing a torrent of raw, unshackled magic that cascaded across the land like a tempest of colors and energy. The very laws of nature buckled, and reality itself wavered as the equilibrium was shattered. Arcane storms ravaged the skies, and the boundaries between realms blurred, allowing creatures from the outer planes to slip through the cracks into the Material Plane.   As the maelstrom of magic raged, landscapes twisted and transformed. Flora and fauna undergoing bewildering mutations over time. Mages who once drew upon the structured currents of magic found themselves adrift in a sea of unpredictability. Spells once reliable faltered or surged uncontrollably, while new incantations emerged from the chaos, offering both untold power and perilous consequence. Magic became a force unchained, neither good nor evil, but a reflection of the intentions and nature of its wielder.   In the wake of the cataclysm, the Ancients had succeeded in their quest to reshape the world, but they paid a heavy price. Their once-mighty empire crumbled as their arrogance yielded bitter fruit. The cataclysmic event was both their legacy and their downfall, a reminder that even those who command the very forces of existence are not immune to the laws of consequence. The veil soon closed in on itself, separating the different planes from each other entirely, leaving a deserted and ravaged land in its wake.   And so, the Great Cataclysm left an indelible mark on the world—a testament to the folly of tampering with the primal forces that govern reality. Ages would pass, civilizations would rise and fall, and the world would heal, but the echoes of that cataclysmic event would forever ripple through the currents of history, a reminder of the fragile balance between the mortal and the arcane
