Wild Elvirim

After the Fall from the Stars, as the Human population began to grow and expand throughout Derkomai, Elvirim contact with Humans became increasingly frequent. Though there was very little outright conflict, most of the Elvirim were uncomfortable with their relatively larger, louder, more gregarious, and more aggressive Human neighbors. Being a long-lived species, much more attuned to the natural environment of Derkomai, and far less curious about how or why things work as they do, the Elvirim outlook on life was, and is, far different than that of most Humans.   As a result, most of the Elvirim began to retreat from Human contact. Some retreated to Elvirim cities, like Ostnúmenoron, hidden deep in mountain valleys, protected from the outside world and accessible only via paths known only to the Elvirim. In those cities, Elvirim civilization, culture, and tradition was preserved and passed down to their younger generations.   Other Elvirim, however, those closest to nature and less tied to Elvirim civilization, retreated deep into the mountains, jungles, deep forests, and even swamps, far from any Human or Elvirim populations. They abandoned much of the traditional Elvirim culture, and have developed their own traditions and cultures. Many live in small villages scattered throughout Derkomai, hidden deep in thick forests or swamps, even in high mountain caves. These Elvirim are known by Humans and other Elvirim as "Wild Elvirim" or in Elvrimkou as "Róven Elvirim."   Living in small villages, or often as individuals roaming Derkomai wherever they will, in constant danger from Orkrim and wildlife, the Wild Elvirim have become formidable warriors and woodsmen, able to move unheard and unseen through the forests and swamps surrounding their homes. Though small in number, even Orkrim usually avoid Wild Elvirim villages unless they have overwhelming numbers.
