The Angel of Daskar
Stories told to Daskari children when they are small say that the first people of Daskar were protected by an angel, perhaps a Shisharrim, perhaps not, that healed all injuries and illnesses, delivered every baby, and even brought people back from the dead. The angel is known to the people now as the Angel of Daskar or the Mother of Daskar.
The stories say the Angel of Daskar was incredibly intelligent, more so than any Human or Elvirim, and that she loved everyone she met, no matter who it was. She worked without rest to save and protect all of the people, even to the point where she was completely exhausted. Because she worked so hard for the people, a guardian was sent to watch over her, making sure she was safe. The guardian sometimes insisted that she rest, but often, she would go to heal someone, even when she was too exhausted to do so.
The story about the Angel of Daskar says that without her, all of the first people of Daskar would have died, and Daskar would never have been founded.
Historical Basis
The stories about the Angel of Daskar are based on Kelini Daskar and Elahe Daskar, who did, in fact, save many of the first colonists from the landing ship that crashed in what is now known as Daskar Lok. The people from that landing ship were deeply traumatized, physically and mentally, and Kelini Daskar's compassion and medical skills were critical in helping them overcome their traumas. At that time, Kelini Daskar's deep compassion woke in her the first manifestations of her magical healing abilities, and she became the first Agapyel Healer, otherwise known as Yat Preetyelrim. Agapyel Healers, often known in Sudland, especially in Daskar, as Preetyelrim, are regarded by many as nearly a separate species.
