The Finger Fjords
The well known feature of the country of Clor Shain, the Finger Fjords are long cuts into the land with sheer cliffs leading up from the ocean surface. Though typically seen as natural structures by cartographers, the locals of the area believe in a different origin. Though they have create a passage inground, ships and other vessels avoid the mouths of the fjords due to their constant rough waters and the threat of being slammed into the surrounding cliffs. Many have tried to traverse the fjords, only a few have completed the process.
History
The history of the Fjords can not be found in any written history. Instead there is a widely accepted oral history that is well known to all citizens of Clor Shain. Back when larger creatures reigned over the lands, there was an incredible war between two of the ruling creatures, Frost Giants and Storm Giants. Holders of the oceans, Storm Giants sieged the lands of the Frost Giants that reached almost as south as the deserts of Gusharia. The tall cliffs of Clor Shain were a natural fortress for the Frost Giants and a great vantage point on their seaborne enemies. The story goes that in an attempt to crush the Frost Giants where they believed they were safest, the Storm Giants used the powers of the ocean to dig into the cliffs further and further inground to collapse the fortress with their adversaries inside. As the legend goes there was a coordinated attack where multiple Storm Giants broke through the natural defenses therefore creating the large gashes in the cliffs.
