The Curse of the Name

The Curse of the Name is an urban legend that has spread throughout the citizens of Stadescos. It is based on almost exclusively negative or unfortunate connotations that were recorded with every member of the Velázquez Dynasty that had the first name "Celia". Every member of the dynasty with that first name had some kind of negative impact on the dynasty as a whole or had at least a life that could be considered unfortunate. Because of that, people believe that there is a curse attached to the name "Celia Velázquez". This also leads to the name being used significantly less in the family than other names when a new child is born.
"Your vision was of a crow with bloody wings? How original!"
- Celia Alana Velázquez V.

Celia Velázquez I.

Celia Velázquez the first was one of the founding members of the Velázquez Dynasty and the state of Stadescos. She and her older sister Nerea Velázquez the first fought for their territory and their rule, before they ended up founding the country. Nerea I. was the first queen of Stadescos and became immortalized as the founder of the country and the dynasty. Her younger sister Celia was never regarded as highly as her sister and never went down in the history books as glorified as her sister did. Despite fighting for everything just as much as her and supporting her sister every step of the way. Because she was standing so much in her sisters shadow, Celia Velázquez I. was considered to have an unfortunate legacy.

Celia Velázquez II.

Celia Velázquez II. was the great-granddaughter of Nerea I. and therefore in the fourth generation of the Velázquez Dynasty. She created a big scandal in the nobility of Stadescos when she married a Clándhia man, as it was completely unheard of at the time. Together with her husband she also adopted multiple Clándhia and Dáotára children. Though after a few years of watching the family and disagreeing with it behind closed doors, there was an assasination staged on Celia II. and her family. She, her husband and some of their children were killed, the ones that survived were banished from the royal family and made to give up their rights as members of the royal family. With this assasination, the conflict between the Clándhia and the Dáotára in Stadescos, which is still going on today, was sparked. This feud influences the country until this day and claims several lifes from time to time.

Celia Alana Velázquez V.

Celia V. is the last remaining member of the Velázquez Dynasty at this point in time. From the day of her birth there were people that predicted a dark future for her because of the name her parents decided to give her. Many of them felt validated in their opinion when the family was hunted down and murdered with Celia V. being the only survivor. Celia often gets accused of being on the path to be a bad ruler or even a tyrant due to her being in the military at the moment and doing a revenge trip for her family. She is often being told that she has a temper and kills people without much remorse or thought. Celia always argues against those comments and does not believe in the alleged curse attached to her name at all.

Symbolism

In connection to the curse of the name, the usual sigil of the Velázquez Dynasty is changed. Instead of the crow having flaming wings, it is protrait as having blood dripping from them. This twist of the family crest is widely associated with the curse and especially with Celia Alana Velázquez V..
