Talorcus

In the primordial depths where light fears to tread, where ancient beings coil through eternal darkness and forbidden knowledge sleeps in abyssal trenches, Talorcus ruled as lord of all sea beasts. His domain was not the graceful civilization of Merr-Metrianus, but the savage, beautiful realm of nature's most profound creations.
Origin and Essence Among the first hundred gods called forth by Te Vevutur, Talorcus emerged as a force of primal creation. Unlike his peers who sought to build cities or forge armies, he turned his divine spark toward the crafting of life itself. The great leviathans, the serpents of the deep, and countless other marine creatures sprang from his imagination, each species a testament to his understanding of evolution and adaptation.
They say when Talorcus first descended into the abyssal plains, the waters themselves parted in reverence, and from the darkness came forth creatures that had never known light - yet recognized their master.
The Lord of Depths His marriage to Clyllian, mistress of the sunless depths, united two aspects of oceanic power. Where he brought forth life, she provided the mysterious spaces where such life could evolve beyond surface-dwellers' comprehension. Their union produced Aldar, a god whose destiny would intertwine inextricably with the race that would bear his name.   The Shaping of Humanity In the year 4445, Talorcus undertook his greatest work - the creation of humanity. Drawing upon his mastery of flesh and form, he gathered materials from the most ancient places: clay from the first seabed, water from springs that had never seen sunlight, breath from winds that had circled since creation's dawn. To these he added something unprecedented - a spark of changeability taken from his son Aldar, who embodied the boundary between sea and shore.   The Master of Evolution Through millennia, Talorcus continued his work of creation and transformation in the ocean depths. His experiments produced creatures of such diversity and strange beauty that even other gods marveled. He understood adaptation not as mere survival but as an art form, crafting species that could thrive in the most hostile environments imaginable.   During this era, he briefly tutored the young god Zastor, sharing insights about transformation and adaptation that would later influence the development of magical theory. Though their time together was short, Talorcus's teachings about the mutable nature of life and essence left lasting marks on his student's understanding of power.   The Deeper Purpose Many scholars believe that Talorcus's gift of humanity to the Zervesines masked a more profound agenda. By creating beings capable of genuine growth and change, he introduced an element of chaos into the ordered world of divine hierarchy. The Aldari's eventual rise from slavery to sovereignty might well have been written into their very essence - a slow-burning revolution crafted by a god who understood that true power lay in the ability to evolve.   The Depths' Mysteries In the crushing pressures of the deepest trenches, Talorcus maintained vast laboratories where he continued his work of creation. Here, in chambers where even divine light feared to penetrate, he crafted beings that defied conventional understanding. Some say he sought to create life that could survive the end of all things, species so adaptable they could endure any catastrophe.   The Whale Songs Perhaps his most enigmatic creation was the great whales - beings that straddled the boundary between material and divine. These massive creatures carried within their songs memories of the world's beginning, their migrations tracing patterns of power through the ocean depths. Through them, Talorcus wove a living network of knowledge that spanned all seas.   Legacy and Influence Through the ages, Talorcus maintained his distance from the surface world's politics, preferring the company of his beloved sea beasts. Yet his influence rippled outward through the generations of humanity he had created. When the Aldari developed their feared naval prowess, when they mastered the arts of shipbuilding and navigation, they were drawing upon instincts he had woven into their very being.   The Abyssal Court In the darkest depths of Marenwe, Talorcus still holds court among creatures that have never seen light. His throne room lies in a vast cavern where the pressure would crush lesser beings to dust, its walls lined with living coral that pulses with the heartbeats of a thousand deep-sea creatures. Here, he continues his eternal work of creation and transformation.
The waves remember Talorcus not as a god of civilization or warfare, but as something far older - a force of life itself, eternally crafting new forms from the primordial depths of possibility.
Modern Age Even now, as divine power wanes and new forces rise, Talorcus remains one of the most enigmatic of the surviving Eeirendel. His realm stands largely untouched by the conflicts that ravage the surface world. In the lightless depths where ancient beings dwell, he pursues his endless work of creation, forever seeking new forms of life to shape and guide.
